ABOUT CHRIS

HOME MEANS NEVADA
A STRONG SENSE OF COMMUNITY

Chris is more than an accomplished District Attorney.  He is a committed volunteer, coach and educator, an avid outdoorsman, and a dedicated Nevadan.  He is a loving father of a fifteen-year-old son, thirteen-year-old twin daughters, a seven-year-old daughter, and a devoted husband to his wife Nicole, a native Nevadan who also serves as a Deputy District Attorney and former Executive Director of the Washoe County Child Advocacy Center.  Together they strive to build a stronger, safer Nevada.

A fifth-generation Nevadan, Chris’ love for this community stems from his family’s deep history in Washoe County.  His maternal ancestors were immigrants from Italy who operated the Avansino Ranch.  He spent much of his childhood on the ranch with his family.

Chris’ passion for the law began at an early age.  He grew up in the courtroom watching his father Larry Hicks, the Washoe County District Attorney from 1974-1978, work diligently to prosecute felony crimes.  Today, Larry Hicks serves as a United States District Court Judge for the District of Nevada.  Chris also learned about public service and leadership at a young age from family member and mentor Nevada Senator William Raggio, whose distinguished career helped to shape the Nevada we know today.

Chris is active in the community.  He served on the Board of Directors of the successful at-risk youth mentorship program 360 Blueprint.  He is a member of the Prospector’s Club, Nevada Bighorns Unlimited, and the Elks Lodge.  He is a Camp Counselor and volunteer at the Maison T Ortiz Outdoor Youth Skills Camp and regularly speaks to local kids and philanthropic organizations. Chris coaches youth soccer and basketball.
